Our Learner Levels

Preschool: Shooting Stars

Children are in a period of rapid growth, curiosity, and exploration. Through hands-on learning, purposeful work, and rich experiences in nature, students build independence, concentration, confidence, and foundational academic skills while developing a deep love of learning.

K - 1st: Yellowwoods & Goldenrods

As children transition toward greater reasoning and responsibility, they strengthen foundational literacy and mathematics skills while continuing to develop independence, self-direction, and social awareness. Learning is active, meaningful, and connected to the natural world.

2nd - 3rd: Tulip Trees & Redbuds

Children begin to ask bigger questions about how the world works and their place within it. Students engage in collaborative learning, deeper academic inquiry, and real-world exploration while building responsibility, critical thinking, and strong community relationships.

4th - 6th: Junipers & Royal Ferns

Students are increasingly capable of abstract thinking, problem-solving, and leadership. Through interdisciplinary studies, outdoor experiences, and meaningful work, they develop intellectual curiosity, self-confidence, and a growing sense of social responsibility and global citizenship.

Middle School: Poison Ivy

Adolescents are developing their identities and seeking purpose, belonging, and independence. Our middle school program provides authentic opportunities for leadership, community engagement, rigorous academics, and real-world application, helping students become confident, compassionate, and capable young adults prepared for high school and beyond.

Field Study Program: Aster & Sycamore

By stepping outside the traditional classroom, students engage in rigorous scientific observation and collaborative field studies that foster independent critical thinking. They translate these real-world environmental insights into meaningful artistic expressions, using the creative process to discover their unique voices, build personal resilience, and cultivate a lifelong purpose of environmental stewardship.
